Every couple of weeks we’re going to spotlight one of our 15 trailblazing projects. It’s Great Big GreenWeek so we’re starting with the Hereford Zipper.
Led by Hereford City Council, this fantastic electric, zero emissions bus service will make it easy to travel around the city centre. We’re delighted to announce that local bus company Yeomans Travel has won the tender to operate the service. It is set to make its first trip at the end of September 2023.
The aim is to offer a convenient bus service from the main transport hubs into the centre of town, giving residents and visitors an alternative to using their cars. The project will also create an electric bus charging facility and depot to facilitate electrification of further bus fleets in the future.
The Hereford Zipper will tour near many of our projects and route via Station Medical Centre, Hereford Transport Hub and Railway Station, student accommodation, County Hospital, the County and City Bus Stations, the Town Hall, St Owen Street, High Town, Broad Street, Hereford Leisure Pool and the Old Market.
Part of Stronger Hereford, the Zipper is funded by the Government’s Towns Fund. With additional support from Hereford City Council.
