FAQ

Here’s our most Frequently Asked Questions…

Who is funding Stronger Hereford?
Our fifteen projects are supported by a total of £22.4m from central Government, via the Towns Fund. In addition, the individual projects have secured match-funding from a wide range of sources, making the total investment in the city around £40m.

Who is leading Stronger Hereford?
The Stronger Hereford Board was established to lead on the original bid to the Government and then to oversee the delivery of the projects. It is backed by Herefordshire County Council. The Board is drawn from private, public and community sectors. If you are interested in joining the Board then please subscribe to our e-news and follow us on social where we promote opportunities to get involved. For more information, see here.

Where are the projects located?
The projects are sited in and around the city centre. View a map of all projects here (end of page).

When will the projects be completed?
Stronger Hereford was awarded the funds in June 2021 and the projects must be completed by March 2025. However, many of our projects will be open to the public far earlier. For example, the first public art installation at No 1 Station Approach was launched in June 2022, followed by the second in May 2023. Likewise the Hereford Cycle Track is due to open in the summer of 2023. For more details, see here.

Why is the funding focused on the city and not the market towns?
Only cities and larger towns were permitted to apply to the Towns Fund. This meant that only projects within Hereford were eligible for support. However, our city sits at the heart of our small county and the projects are intended to benefit all residents, employees, students and visitors.
